ADAPTIVE SWIMMING

Everyone should learn how to swim, including children AND adults that may require specialized or adaptive swim instruction or training.

What is Adaptive Swimming?

Adaptive Aquatics, sometimes referred to as Special Needs Swim Lessons or Special Needs Swim Team, are programs geared towards people with cognitive, developmental, and neurological challenges. Some of these special needs may include the following:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Down Syndrome
  • Visual, Hearing, or Speech Impairments
  • Learning Disabilities
  • Emotional Disturbances
  • Paralysis
  • Physical Disabilities or Limitations

Every Adaptive Swimmer views and processes their surroundings differently and we understand they need individualized instruction provided by specially qualified instructors. Our goal is to make swimming accessible, safe, and enjoyable for everyone, regardless of ability.

What SwimNation Aquatics Offers the Adaptive Swimmer:

  • Individualized Private Swimming Lessons with an instructor specifically qualified to teach our special students. Our lessons are in two-week “sessions” of TEN total 40-minute classes (Monday thru Friday).When registering for classes, select the SESSION and the PROGRAM (Adaptive Swimming) from the search selections.

  • Competitive Adaptive Swim Team coached by a qualified team coach. Swim team practices are offered five days a week (Monday thru Friday) for 60-minutes each day. The Adaptive Swim Team does offer the opportunity to participate in competitive swim meets.
